Torch & Tinder Press is an independent publisher dedicated to freedom, truth, and cultural resistance.

We’re seeking Volunteer Staff Researchers to help ensure our work is precise, credible, and well-sourced. Researchers support writers and editors by fact-checking, locating primary and secondary sources, and preparing background briefs for ongoing projects.

  • Fact-check and verify references for accuracy and consistency.

  • Compile resource lists and annotated bibliographies.

  • Work collaboratively with editors and writers to provide timely, reliable information.

  • Is detail-oriented and comfortable navigating academic, journalistic, and archival sources.

  • Understands (or is eager to learn) citation standards (Chicago style preferred).

  • Can work independently and meet agreed-upon deadlines.

  • Shares our commitment to accuracy, cultural memory, and responsible publishing.

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience with fact-checking, library research, or academic work.

  • Familiarity with activist/grassroots publishing or independent media.

Ideal For

  • Students, retirees, librarians, academics, or independent researchers who want to apply their skills to a living press.

  • Writers or artists who also enjoy the behind-the-scenes work of building credibility and context.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to help shape a press grounded in truth and accuracy.

  • Collaboration with a supportive, interdisciplinary team.

  • Public acknowledgment for contributions (opt-in).
