Volunteer Editor-in-Chief
Torch & Tinder Press is an independent publisher dedicated to freedom, truth, and cultural resistance.
We are seeking a Volunteer Editor-in-Chief to lead our editorial vision and help shape the voice of Torch & Tinder Press. This role will guide writers, manage the editorial calendar, and ensure our publications meet the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee editorial direction for Substack lanes, Core Collections, and Embers Quarterly.
Edit and review submissions, providing constructive feedback to contributors.
Coordinate with staff writers, artists, and researchers.
Maintain publication schedules and ensure consistency in voice and ethos.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who:
Has strong editing and organizational skills.
Understands cultural memory, resistance, and accessible publishing.
Is comfortable mentoring and guiding writers.
Shares our commitment to accuracy, dignity, and shared freedom.
Bonus if you have:
Experience managing editorial teams or independent presses.
Familiarity with Substack and collaborative tools.
Ideal For
