Torchlight Gathering
An Evening of Memory, Resilience, and Shared Freedom
📣 Signal Dispatch — Signals from the field
Oct 2, 7–10 p.m. CDT at Refuge Bonne Foi (online)—bring a friend, bring your light.
On October 2, Torch & Tinder Press will join our collaborators at Refuge Bonne Foi for the Torchlight Gathering — an evening carried not by speeches alone, but by memory, resilience, and shared freedom.
We call it a “Torchlight Gathering” because freedom does not survive by accident; it unravels unless we bind it together, and it goes out unless we rekindle it — through our stories, our actions, and the ways we care for one another. The Torchlight Gathering is a night to do just that: to remember what matters and to spark new fires of resistance and hope.
Over the course of the evening, we will:
Open with welcome and keynote, grounding ourselves in truth and care.
Hear spotlight talks from those carrying torches in publishing, community, and cultural resistance.
Explore the Resistance & Resilience framework and take a tour of Refuge Bonne Foi.
Collaborate in building a Resilience Map / Vision Wall that reflects our collective imagination.
Connect in an open house space with time for conversation and shared discovery.
Close together in reflection and benediction — a reminder that freedom is a practice, and resistance is an ecosystem.
Torch & Tinder Press will be there as one voice among many, sharing why we publish handbooks, field guides, and memoranda: because stories matter, because memory is defense, and because cultural resistance is how we endure.
The Torchlight Gathering is hosted in Refuge Bonne Foi, with collaborators from Torch & Tinder Press, the Happy Medium Sustainability Collective, and Ember Commons, each carrying their own flame into the circle.
About our collaborators
Happy Medium Sustainability Collective (HMSC): A community agriculture initiative focused on regenerative practice, mutual aid, and consent-based collaboration—sharing resources and building practical tools for resilient neighborhoods and shared stewardship.
Ember Commons: A grassroots school exploring what it means to become and to nurture free thinkers in a world that often rewards silence, compliance, and standardization. Ember Commons is designed to reimagine community learning with a focus on joyful learning, creativity, chasing curiosity, sharing our knowledge with others, and building strong communities. Current offerings supplement but do not replace traditional education.
