🔥 The First 24 Hours – Thank You!
Freedom is a practice, and this launch proves we are not alone in carrying it forward. Here’s what Torch & Tinder Press has released in our first 24 hours, and where we’re headed next.
📣 Signal Dispatch — Signals from the field
Torch & Tinder Press launched yesterday, and already, we’ve started building a network of supporters who recognize the urgency of this moment. We each believe in equipping individuals and communities with the resources needed to foster freedom, safeguard the truth, and protect their stories—wherever they are. More than just publishing, this is about ensuring that essential tools, stories, histories, and ideas remain in the hands of the people.
What This Means
This launch marks the beginning of something we can build together—a project dedicated to knowledge-sharing, resisting erasure, and creating accessible resources for individuals and communities navigating an increasingly controlled world. Resistance to autocratic and authoritarian control starts with safeguarding the truth and protecting our cultures—collectively. Every contribution, whether through direct support or by sharing these materials, strengthens that vision.
📖 What’s Available Right Now?
How to Lose Everything Without Even Trying – A critical memorandum on systemic collapse and the erosion of democracy. This work breaks down how power consolidates, how control tightens, and how authoritarianism advances through economic instability, institutional breakdown, and manufactured exhaustion. It emphasizes that collapse is not a sudden event but a slow process—one that can still be resisted if people recognize the signs and take action.
What Are We Supposed to Do? – A field guide to cultural resilience and sustained resistance. This book provides concrete strategies for recognizing and resisting authoritarian influence in daily life, with a focus on community organizing, psychological endurance, and narrative control. It is for those ready to take meaningful, sustainable action rather than being caught in cycles of reaction and outrage.
The Ethos of Embers & Ash – A statement of principles and philosophy. This document outlines the foundational ideas behind Torch & Tinder Press, defining our commitment to decentralization, knowledge-sharing, and cultural memory. It provides a guiding framework for those who want to build on its foundations and contribute to long-term strategies of cultural resistance.
Embers From Ashes – A memo on the slow unraveling of freedom and the necessity of cultural resistance. This work examines the Ethos of Embers & Ash, highlighting how power consolidates over time, why waiting for institutions to act is a losing strategy, and how independent knowledge-sharing strengthens resistance. It also reflects on the founding of Torch & Tinder Press as both a publishing project and a personal act of resilience against authoritarian trends.
Wondering Where to Begin?
We recommend starting with How to Lose Everything Without Even Trying and reading them in the order listed. However, if you're looking for immediate strategies, What Are We Supposed to Do? may be the best place to start. If you have questions about what we stand for, The Ethos of Embers & Ash and Embers From Ashes will provide answers—and you’re always welcome to reach out directly.
All of these are available as free Community Editions, with pay-what-you-want options to sustain future work.
